Hospital Bed Race

Hospital Bed Race 2018 in Annandale

The Annandale Hospital Bed Race is a community-building event that raises funds for local projects and Virginians with Intellectual Disabilities, including a group home here in Annandale.  This year it will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
Businesses gather teams of 5 for this whacky relay race using pediatric hospital beds that have been decorated with great enthusiasm.  Awards for best decorated bed, most enthusiastic team, and the fastest team will be presented at the end of the race. This is an event that is widely advertised giving all the company teams abundant promotion as well as an opportunity to be recognized as a great corporate citizen.

W
here else will you have a chance to see slices of pizza racing against firefighters?  Watch the short video (above) to see the fun.

Hapmudo Martial Arts Studio once again won the Annandale Bed Race on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in a hotly contested race. Enterprise Rent-a-Car and Navy Federal Credit Union were narrowly defeated in a hotly contested race.  Undoubtedly, extra training sessions will be undertaken before the 2018 race.

Fairfax Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova with her team of Fairfax County Firefighters, and generously sponsored by Kinneman Insurance were among the many teams that participate in the Annandale Bed Race, sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce.    Great enthusiasm ruled the day with Northern Virginia Community College placing first in this category, and TD Bank for the best decorated bed, followed again by Northern Virginia Community College and Burke & Herbert Bank.

Entertainment was provided by Hapmudo Martial Arts School and the dancing mascots from Burke & Herbert Bank and Navy Federal Credit Union.   Special thanks goes to the exhaustive efforts of Carol Reuss of the Annandale Shopping Center for once again organizing this favorite community event, to Life Storage, Kinneman Insurance, chamber Partners, and all the dedicated volunteers.
