ANNANDALE FALL FESTIVAL: It’s Bigger and Better than Ever!

On Saturday, October 27, 2012, the Annandale Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a spectacular Fall Festival in the Safeway parking lot on Little River Turnpike. This is the largest public event in Greater Annandale attended by over 10,000 people.  From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM one hundred merchants with hand made and fashion jewellry, fashion accessories, imported silks & quality handbags will offer their wares in the Community Arts & Craft Market.  Stylists will also be here to show you the latest fashion trends and suggest accessories to update your wardrobe.

Artisan crafts will be represented in the form of high end ceramics, wood carvings & Marquetry.  A score of Pet Vendors made their debut last year to rave reviews.  This festival will again feature a broad range of clever pet accessories, dog Trainers & Walkers, gourmet pet food, and pet adoption providers. Children’s books & toys, endearing marionettes, herbal wraps & wreaths, quality giftware from major manufacturers, exquisite handcrafts and so much more will round out the community market.  This is a festival where you can begin and complete your holiday shopping.

In the Food & Entertainment Zone, Rock, Country & Jazz Bands, along with Costumed International Dancers will set your toes tapping while “The Taste of Annandale,” with food from many culinary cuisines, will satisfy every taste craving. Try Japanese, Thai, Nigerian, Greek, Italian, Latin, or the perennial favorites such as barbeque, crab cakes, Philly cheese steaks, snow cones, funnel cakes, and Kettle Corn.

In the Kid’s Zone a full day of fun awaits.  The Toddler Play Area will be back with age appropriate games such as the Bubble Booth and the Lil’ Pirate Moon Bounce.  Puppet Shows, Magic Shows and Storytelling by The Cat in the Hat are scheduled for your entertainment in The Secret Garden.  The ever pleasing Rock Climbing Wall, Bungee Jump & Bungee Basketball are planned along with interactive & inflatable games.   New model cars, fire trucks and the Nationwide NASCAR with Simulator await your exploration!

The Annandale Parade

The popular Annandale Parade will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 beginning at 10:00 am.  Marching along Columbia Pike from the historic white church near Gallows Road all the way to the Bowling Alley-Safeway, thousands of participants from Clowns, Storybook Characters, and Marching Bands to Antique & Military Cars, Fire Trucks, Civic Organizations, Scouts, and beautifully costumed International Dancers will parade before the residents of Greater Annandale.  Sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce, this sixty-two year old tradition only gets bigger and better every year.

The Parade's Grand Marshal will, after the police and fire escorts, lead the parade over to the festival grounds in the Safeway Parking Lot on Little River Turnpike.  Judges will vote on the best music/dance group, best costume, and best float.  The most popular announcer in the Parade's history, Bob Reuss, will be back again to provide his enthusiastic colour commentary on the procession.

Children in the community are invited to watch the parade in their Halloween costumes and to collect the frequent gifts of candy that the marching groups hand-out.  Looking for a day of family fun?  Start at the parade and then stroll over to the Fall Festival for food entertainment, shopping, and games.

Parade Entry forms will be available on this website after March 2012.  If your organization wishes to participate, entry forms must be received in the Chamber office by October 8, 2012 and are available at www.annandalechamber.com under Our Events.
