Saturday, February 6:  Garden Tour: Winter Trunks and Bark 10-11:30am. (Adults) During winter, tree trunks and branches are revealed in all their glory. Explore the gardens with a master gardener docent who highlights a stunning variety of bark color, texture and form and showcases the best trees for ornamental value in the winter landscape. $15 per person . Saturday, February 13:  Starting from Scratch with Seeds 10:30am-12pm. (16-Adult) Grow flowers, vegetables and herbs from seed and expand your garden. Be inspired by Green Spring staff member, Susan Eggerton, as she discusses potting mixes, containers, seed treatments, lighting, fertilization, watering, seed sources and timing. Then take home a few seeds to start your own collection. This program will take place on-site with limited registration and social distancing. $22 per person. Wear a mask. Saturday, February 20:  17th Annual EcoSavvy Symposium – Virtual Program  9:30am-12:30pm. (16-Adult) Join us for the 17th annual EcoSavvy Symposium from the comfort of your own home or office. In this year’s symposium, titled “Integrating Storm Water Management in Landscape Design,” Dr. Laurie Fox, horticulture associate at Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Agricultural Research & Extension Center, and Christine  Horner, water quality engineer for the Town of Vienna, will present innovative techniques to capture, store and redirect rainwater on your property. Friday, March 12:  Garden Talk: Designing an EcoSavvy Garden 1:30-2:30pm. (Adults) Learn to work with nature's resources to develop a beautiful, low-maintenance urban garden. With a little bit of knowledge, careful planning, and some effort, see how native trees/shrubs provide structure and year-round interest, along with colorful annuals and perennials that add seasonal color splashes. Sunday, January 17:  Moon Gates — the Power of Circles  1:30-2:30pm. (16-Adult) Historian Debbie Waugh reveals the ancient origins of the moon gate in Chinese gardens and the value of this striking architectural feature today. View stunning moon gates - traditional and contemporary - that form enticing passageways between garden spaces. Consider incorporating one into your home landscape. Such losses are not an option if we wish to continue our current standard of living on planet Earth. The good news is that none of this is inevitable. Saturday, January 30:  Watercolor Workshop: Pen and Ink  
9:30am-3:30pm. (16-Adult) By the end of this class you will become confident drawing with ink! Artists Marni Maree will teach you various ways to draw with ink and create values using hatching, cross hatching, stippling, scribbling, patterns, and more. Bring in a drawing or watercolor painting that you do not like and see how to improve it by adding ink. Tables will be separated for social distancing and masks are required. 1-2:30pm. (16-Adult) Learn how to create a modern Hogarth curve floral design – a gentle curving design that leads your eye through the floral composition. Choose Your Nature Walk  
(All ages) Book a walk with one of our children’s education teachers and choose from a variety of topics for a themed park tour. Each tour includes a hands-on element and can be customized to include the science topics your students are learning in school. Choose from the following topics: Pond Fauna & Flora, Native Virginia Plants & Trees, Green Spring Watersheds & Geology, Virginia Ecosystems Walk, History of Green Spring Farm, or General Garden Tour. $40 per group of up to 9 people, including at least one adult. Private Garden Tours 
Arrange a private Green Spring Gardens group tour. Green Spring Extension Master Gardener docents lead garden tours year-round. These knowledgeable, highly trained guides interpret the gardens, the plant collections, the site’s mission and its historic legacy. Home gardeners can learn about top landscape plant choices and plant combinations. General and themed garden tours are available. $12 per person for groups of 20 or more; $10 per person for 19 or fewer. Minimum group size is eight. Groups of more than 10 people will be divided into smaller groups to allow for social distancing. For information or to schedule a garden tour call Historic Green Spring at (703) 941-7987. 


Visit with the Historian 
Step into the 1784 Historic House with Green Spring’s historian, who shares the fascinating origins of the site, the intriguing people who lived here, and how Green Spring Gardens evolved into the community treasure it is today. Your 45-minute private visit will include time to view informational videos and a historic photo exhibit. $20 for 1-2 adults, $10 for each additional   person, up to 7. Virtual Afternoon Tea Programs 
Registrants will be sent a link by e-mail to join the Zoom lecture. Optional afternoon teas to go are provided in individual tea boxes available Historic House at Green Spring Gardensfor pickup on the day of the program. Tea boxes include finger sandwiches, assorted cakes/pastries, scone, cream, jam, and tea bag. Programs are by reservation only. Sunday, January 10, 2-3pm :  (Adult) Take an amusing tour through the ages to explore the history of humor and laughter.
