Collector’s World Expanding
A New Venue for Games and Events
Collector's World Comic Heroes
Later this year, Collector’s World in the Annandale Shopping Center will be moving next door to Mathnasium and expanding to over 6,000 square feet. Their dedicated retail space will more than double plus two additional rooms will be added. One will host their online business sales and the other a very exciting event/game room. No matter your age, when walking into this business you can’t help but feel that FUN is heading your way.
Much attention is being paid to expanding their inventory system and selection to 1 million cards ranging from modern and vintage to non-sports. They will also expand their comics section to over 50,000 and add a customer aide table where patrons can sit and sort through their favorite cards and comics. Aside from retail buying and selling, Collector’s World will host special events focusing on gaming, cosplay, authentication, card shows, tent sales and children’s gatherings.
Focusing on their customer experience, the new and expanded Collector’s World will be a very kid friendly location with special perks for good grades and enough stock to provide excitement for kids, their family, and adults alike.
New Games Room:
In their new dedicated Games Room, owners Damon Hudson and Steve Weber will host fames focused for a kid friendly environment such as learning how to play Pokémon on Saturdays. Plan to book a Pokémon birthday party or join a tournament designed for children, or another for adults on evening Game Nights. One of their aims to promote less time on devices and more time interacting with peers who share a common interest.
Currently, Pokémon and new unopened sports pack are extremely popular. They receive all the new releases for hobby stores including products never available at the large box stores. Because of Covid safety, the gaming rollout will be slower than other aspects of the new store but hopefully will be possible by the end of this year.
Due to the pandemic, there has been a constant shortage of Card and Comic supplies. Collector’s World broadened their search scouring every avenue to track down the page protectors, card savers and general supplies that the collectors need.
Vintage & Authentication:
More than anything else, Vintage is their specialty. Currently they have over 10,000 certified autographs from Muhamad Ali to Honus Wagner, rare autographed sports memorabilia and historical items. Their collection includes postcards, photos, magazines and many other classic relics of presidents and celebrities.
On Saturday, June 12th from Noon to 5 pm Collector’s World will host an Authentication Event. You will be able to bring your autographed items into the store and have them authenticated by James Spence Authentication, who has built a worldwide reputation as the premier autograph authenticator in the world. To review in advance the fees see JSA's fee table see www.spenceloa.com/fees
Customers are encouraged to drop off items the week prior to the event, and they will be ready for pick up the following week. They will take walk-ins on June 12th but keep in mind they only allow a few people in the store at a time, so there may be a wait outside. For questions about the event see
If you wish to have your comics or magazines graded and slabbed, Collector’s World is now an Authorized CGC Dealer.
Sell or Consign Your Collection:
If you have an old collection you're looking to sell Collector's World will buy or sell your items on consignment! Bring your pieces to the store in person anytime or schedule an appointment and they will provide their expertise on selling for top dollar!
They are always looking to acquire items and routinely conduct house calls. Items like comics, old paper items, cards, coins, toys could have considerable value. They will give you a fair price and provide hundreds of references to interested sellers. This process is great for people not interested in selling items themselves, or looking to put their house on the market. They have also dealt with estates. Unlike some buyers Collector’s world will haul the entire collection, not just the items of value providing a real service to the estate. Interested sellers can go to their website, send an email or call the store
In May 2013, when Damon and Steve acquired the existing business, they launched an online sales department. It allowed them to continually buy collections especially from individuals who were ready to downsize. During 2020, they really leaned on the online business which kept them going without relying on the retail side. But over the long term, there is nothing better to see and feel something before you buy it.
Their ebay anchor store (collectorsworld-va) now has over 20,000 positive feedback. Their auctions are highly popular with Sports Cards, Autographs, Comics, Coins and Toys. With the new store rollout, people can pick up their auction winnings in person or click and search from their 10,000 buy-it-now listings for local pickup.
