Meet the Artisan: Sharon Eppler
Fiber Artist
I LOVE making beautiful things! I have been a crafter my entire life and have always been inspired by flowers, which come in so many sizes, shapes and colors. Although roses are my favorite, I find splendor in every flower inhabiting my garden, tending each with equal care and appreciation.
Photographing these floral beauties became a side business bringing the beauty and peace of nature into many customers work and home spaces.
My mother taught me to knit when I was a child but that didn’t stick with me and I learned again as an adult. A few years ago, I began adding beads to my knitting, which opened up an exciting world of color and texture with infinite possibilities. From there, it was an easy step to working with wire, beads and stones creating beautiful accessories and jewelry!
I studied literature and design at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. In 1991, After graduation, I worked as a graphic designer for twenty years while mastering publishing lay-outs and digital programs. Now I’m a full time mom and jewelry artist. I live in Gaithersburg, Maryland with my husband Rob, our children, Sean and Caitlin and our cats, Minnie and Cami. My work is available at the Artisans United Gallery in Annandale.
The Craft Gallery of Artisans United is a cooperative endeavor, staffed and run by
the independent members of Artisans United, Inc. as well as those individuals belonging to the member Guilds. On a daily basis, visitors will find the Gallery artisans happy to explain crafting techniques and to share their knowledge of where craft materials may be obtained. And, too, visitors will often discover impromptu demos in progress as the artists complete their creations. We are always looking for new craftspeople to join our organization. If you are interested in joining us as a member artist, please ask at the front desk for a membership packet which explains what is expected of you as a member of Artisans United.
