ABOUT THE CHAMBER

The ANNANDALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, a non-profit organization, that joins businesses, community organizations, and professionals for the purpose of maintaining a favorable business climate while contributing to the quality of life that makes Annandale a special place.

Our Chamber encourages members to work together to foster a dynamic, thriving business community. Here, you can expect to develop strong professional relationships with potential business partners, customers and clients from a variety of industries: educators, financial institutions, fine arts organizations and even private individuals who share a passion for bolstering the community's business climate.

The Annandale Chamber is a non-profit business organization that has been in continuous service to Greater Annandale since1943.  The Chamber’s primary goal is to build the Annandale Marketplace.  Additionally, emphasis is placed on the following efforts.

Beautification: To participate in Annandale Beautification Days, and to work to beautify Annandale by encouraging and supporting good architecture, protection of our canopy, additional landscaping in the Central Business District, and along medians and main thoroughfares. Recently, the Chamber has been promoting the use of Carpet Roses in Red and Pink and Crepe Myrtle trees to the owners of commercial properties with the aim of establishing a unified and colorful landscape in the commercial district.

Revitalization: To encourage the revitalization of older buildings and properties into well-designed, comprehensively planned, mixed-use spaces.  Read more about Revitalization...

The Chamber has proudly produced their quarterly online news magazine, ENDEAVOR, since January 2008.  In a few short years it has become the must read publication for all of Annandale. It heralds both chamber members and our home town; it discusses major issues affecting Annandale; it informs with interesting columns such as The Police Beat, Roads and Rage, View on Nature, Tax Talk, Real Estate, History and Yesteryear; and, it provides timely schedules of local activities and stories of special interest.

The Annandale Parade is held the Fourth Saturday in October beginning at 10 AM.  The annual parade dates back to the 1950’s and attracts an enormous attendance.  Marching along Columbia Pike from the historic white church near Gallows Road all the way to Markham Place, thousands of participants from Clowns, Storybook Characters, and Marching Bands to Antique & Military Cars, Fire Trucks, Civic Organizations, Scouts, and beautifully costumed International Dancers will parade before the residents of Greater Annandale.  Sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce, this 75 year old tradition only gets bigger and better every year.

The Parade's Grand Marshal will, after the police and fire escorts, lead the parade past the reviewing stand and continue to Markham Place. Judges will vote on the best music/dance group, best costume, and best float.  The most popular announcer in the Parade's history, Bob Reuss, will be back again to provide his enthusiastic colour commentary on the procession.

Children in the community are invited to watch the parade in their Halloween costumes and to collect the frequent gifts of candy that the marching groups hand-out.  Looking for a day of family fun?  Start at the parade and then stroll over to the Fall Festival for food entertainment, shopping, and games.

Parade Entry forms will be available on this website by June of each year, at http://www.annandalechamber.com/theannandaleparade.rhtml

Chamber Networking is about building relationships with new business contacts, identifying potential new customers, while providing an opportunity to meet fellow members in a congenial relaxed setting.  Expand your professional address book along with your business base.  The chamber sponsors networking luncheons and arranges member sponsored evening Mixers.

The chamber also hosts regular Midday Marketing Receptions at the chamber office.  Invitations will be issued to small groups rotating through the chamber membership in order to offer you a new opportunity to meet as many chamber members and business owners as possible over the course of the year.  Lasting only one hour, you can improve your contact list quickly and effectively.
