MAJOR EVENTS in ANNANDALE

ANNUAL EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE CHAMBER:
These major events are the most well attended in Greater Annandale.

Hospital Bed Race in May

The Chamber teams with the Mason District Police Station in sponsoring this whacky event.  Businesses send a team of 5 who race decorated pediatric hospital beds to promote their business.  Many local politicians participate, news agencies, and citizen spectators.

National Night Out

Annandale celebrates National Night Out at the Annandale Shopping Center on the first Tuesday in August, where a free outdoor movie and popcorn, glitter tattoos, refreshments, martial arts demonstrations, raffles and children's activities are planned (all FREE).  This national celebration is held to promote community involvement in crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

Bring your own lawn chair or blanket, the family, your neighbors and friends to enjoy this evening of family fun, and the opportunity to meet local fire and police officers.

The Annandale Parade
is held the Fourth Saturday in October beginning at 10 AM.

The Annandale High School Band known as the Marching Atoms

The annual parade dates back to the 1950’s and attracts an enormous attendance.  Marching along Columbia Pike from the historic white church near Gallows Road all the way to Markham Place, thousands of participants from Clowns, Storybook Characters, and Marching Bands to Antique & Military Cars, Fire Trucks, Civic Organizations, Scouts, and beautifully costumed International Dancers will parade before the residents of Greater Annandale.  Sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce, this 75 year old tradition only gets bigger and better every year.

The Parade's Grand Marshal will, after the police and fire escorts, lead the parade past the reviewing stand and continue to Markham Place. Judges will vote on the best music/dance group, best costume, and best float.  The most popular announcer in the Parade's history, Bob Reuss, will be back again to provide his enthusiastic color commentary on the procession.

Children in the community are invited to watch the parade in their Halloween costumes and to collect the frequent gifts of candy that the marching groups hand-out.  Looking for a day of family fun?  Start at the parade and then stroll over to the Fall Festival for food entertainment, shopping, and games.

Parade Entry forms will be available on this website after May 2015.  If your organization wishes to participate, entry forms must be received in the Chamber office by October 7, 2015 and are available at www.annandalechamber.com under Our Events. If space fills prior to October 7, 2015, regretfully your participation can not be accepted.
