National Night Out in Annandale

Annandale celebrates National Night Out at the Annandale Shopping Center on Tuesday, August 6th, where glitter tattoos, refreshments, martial arts demonstrations, raffles, a magician, and children's activities are planned (all FREE) to promote community involvement in crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

Bring the family, your neighbors and friends to enjoy this evening of family fun, and the opportunity to meet local fire and police officers.

Police Motorcycle SquadNational Night Out was celebrated at the Annandale Shopping Center to honor Annandale's first responders. Participating were enthusiastic representatives from the Fairfax County Police Department, the Sheriff's Department, The Annandale Volunteer Fire Department, Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross, hundreds of local residents, businesses, and excited children.  The night was celebrated with face painters, glitter tattoos, and a balloon artist.   Each vendor also provided games and gifts for the children.   An area was set aside for carnival games where children of all ages found activities suited to their skill. Midway through the evening a demonstration was given by accomplished students from the Hapmudo Martial Arts School. 

Participating in the festivities were Artisans United, Kinneman Insurance, Mathnasium of Annandale,   Burke and Herbert Bank, George Mason Library, Northern Virginia Community College, Navy Federal Credit Union, Home Instead Senior Care, Hapmudo Martial Arts School,  Crescendo Music Studio, Treasure Trove, The Cue Club, Collector's World, Sylvan Learning Center, Westminster School, and Silverado Restaurant.  The Annandale Chamber of Commerce and the Annandale Shopping Center thank all these participants for displaying their corporate citizenship and spirited interaction with parents and children alike.

Fairfax County Community Police Officers greeting young residents.Children enthusiastically explored a police vehicle at the Annandale Shopping Center. Fire and Sheriff Dept. representatives took part in the celebration at the Annandale Shopping Center.Master Lee of Hapmudo Martial Arts participated in the National Night Out Celebration at the Annandale Shopping Center.Not deterred by taller heads, these young citizens found a solution by watching the movie from a roof top.Cotton Candy, Popsicles, and Popcorn were distributed as movie treats at the Annandale Shopping Center.  Silverado’s also provided their famous Salsa and Chips.
